"I forgot another couple symptoms I get.  I also get eye pains, if I drink cold water I get a brain freeze much easier, and the pain seems to be behind my eyes.  And when I sleep, I get the electric feeling in my legs, and I feel like I have to twitch my legs really hard to get rid of it.  Sometimes this electric feeling just makes me want to go into a full seizure on my bed."

"I was on Paxil for about 6 months, and I hated being on it, it turned me into an emotionless robot.

Now, ever since I've been off it, I get headaches almost every day, and for some reason, the ONLY headache medicine that works is Ibuprofen.  I haven't been able to hear very well ever since, I find myself saying, "What?" all the time after people talk.  I always get an itchy rash on my body, I have to put lotion on before I go to bed every night.  And I couldn't sleep very well for about 8 months after I got off it, I would toss and turn all night, it was almost like insomnia.

It's been about 2 years since I got off Paxil, and the headache, hearing problem, and rash are still effecting me.

I think back to my life before I ever took Paxil, and it seems so bright and happy, I can still be happy now, but it's just not the same, it's as if everything is dim.

NEVER TAKE PAXIL! You can deal with problems like depression yourself, you just have to think to yourself and realize theirs no point in being depressed, I've done a lot of illegal drugs before Paxil, and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has any side effects even remotely as bad as Paxil."

"I took 40mg of Paxil for over 9 months (with lithium too but that didn't cause anything). I had problems with mania, insomnia, extreme hunger loss, and frequent sweating. Then I ran out of Paxil because my psychiatrist was out of town and didn't fill me in. Well the next day I vomited about 30 times, had extreme diarrhea, strange thoughts, very strange sleeping patterns (sleeping 20 hours straight then not sleeping for 48 hours), unbelievable headaches, blurry vision/painful eyes, no ability to concentrate, this strange sensation of my head "whooshing" every 10 or so seconds with no ability to remember what happened right afterwards, and EXTREME depression. This lasted for 2 weeks and I still have trouble concentrating and reading simple paragraphs. I DID have an extremely high IQ and was always way above everyone in my class and now I feel like a moron. I'm still not sure if its permanent or not."

"16 year old male on 30mg of Paxil for 7 months.  While I was taking it I became really jumpy and made me want to crawl up walls.  I lowered down to 15mg one month ago.  Stopped taking completely 1 1/2 weeks ago.  I am now extremely jumpy and nervous.  I get cold sweats.  I have had spasms in my torso, arms and legs every day for a week.  Headache and nausea are a common occurrence for me."

"Was on Paxil for 2 weeks and developed Premature Atrial Contractions. Healthy individual. Run 3 miles a day. Would rather have a healthy heart than not cry near my period."

I just started Paxil 40mg,5 days ago and I feel like I am going to die, really! I'm super tired and lethargic, cannot eat because of lack of appetite and nausea and just feel like I have the worse flu imaginable. I was on Celexa for a long time with no problems but then depression kicked in big time and doctor switched me to Paxil. I thought maybe this was just the first week's side effects but after reading these stories I do not want to continue taking it. Even my son told me to stop taking the meds cause I looked like death."

"Over aggressive and agitation."

"I've been taking it for a month and a half and I feel like my head is going to explode! I also get somewhat dizzy and disoriented."

"Did you know that your local librarian's brain surges with electrical shock-like sensations constantly?  She vomits violently whenever she eats more than an ounce or two of food?  That she constantly has a buzzing sound in her head?  That she falls to her knees crying in public places?  She never did these things before - and Paxil helped her Fibromyalgia pain - but now the withdrawal from Paxil is draining her life.  It's in the 7th. week and still going strong.  I've never sued before, but this may be the time!!!"

"Stuttering, squirming of arms, legs, twitching...all started after an attempt to taper off Paxil."

"Extreme sweating 24/7 , not scared of anything , when getting off the drug I felt like I was hooked to an electric fence charger , sometimes while urinating I would have a discharge of semen for no reason , could get an erection but couldn't have an orgasm."

"I have just been increased to 20mg a day. I now fal over if I suddenly stand up from lying as my head spins frantically. The same happens when I lie down, but at least I can't fall over."

"I've always had a very, very high sex drive.  Since I've started taking paxil(20mg), my sex drive has is almost absent.  It's about impossible for me to get an erection."

"Paxil has caused a great loss of muscular strength since I've been taking it(20mg).  Now it seems like I'm addicted to Paxil.  I can't seem to stop taking it.  The psychiatrist i see just pushes Paxil on me.  I feel worse when I take it than when I don't.  I had one major depression after breaking up with a girlfriend and I got put on Paxil.  Other than that, I was fine when not taking Paxil.  I've tried to get off Paxil, but when I try I start getting depressed when I take less than 15mg.  Right now, I'm trying to get off this crap again and this time I'll succeed no matter what."

"I started Paxil at the end of August, and stopped taking it at the end of October. I went through hell on it, several major side-effects, and absolutely no positive effects.
It was an unmitigated disaster, and I'd write it off as a mistake and forget about it, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm still half blind in one eye.

Among other things, Paxil effected the left side of my body. I had pain in my left knee, and my whole left side was numb, especially my foot, the left side of my stomach and pelvis, my hand, my index finger, my ear (including
reduced hearing in that ear) and then a sudden loss of vision in my left eye (I'd say I've lost about half the vision in it, I can't read at all with it now, I had perfect vision till then) and intense eye pain in that eye.

Everything else is pretty much gone now. Well, I still have the Paxil rash, I'm starting to wonder if that will ever go away (it looks like pin pricks under my skin), and I'm still experiencing some nausea and vomiting from the withdrawal.

And my eye did improve somewhat, but now it's back to it's worst. I really wasn't concerned, I thought side effects are just temporary and would all go away. But I saw a new doctor this week, and she looked it up and found that
Paxil can cause glaucoma. So I saw an optician, and he said that my vision in my left eye is extremely reduced, but he isn't sure what it is, so he referred me back to my doctor, so she can refer me on to an eye specialist.

At this point I don't care about anything else, I just want my sight back. When I started Paxil, I said I had nothing to lose, it didn't occur to me that I could lose my vision."

"While on Paxil (I believe the dosage was just 5 mg), I totally lost my appetite and could go for the entire day without eating.  I had absolutely no interest in sex, which was destroying my relationship with my boyfriend.  I stopped taking Paxil after only three months.  It's only been a week, but now my emotions are so extreme - I can fly into an absolute fury at my boyfriend in seconds, and feel like crying at anything and everything.  I lay awake every night until 3:00 AM, and have vivid, strange dreams all night.  I have frequent, intense hot flashes night/day anytime.  I've bloated up incredibly within the week I've been off of it."
